It's not often I get the chance the take Helen to the cinema... either because of time or different film tastes. But, lo and behold, 'An Education' opened in York today, where we're staying, and so we headed off for a matinee performance at the local independent cinema....
There's been a lot of talk (of the good kind) about this film since it showed at various festivals. Not surprising since the screenplay is by Nick Hornsby and it involves talent like Emma Thompson and Alfred Molina...
Turns out, the talk seems well justified. It's a great film: emotionally charged and with plenty of humour (most of those lines go to Molina). Check out a great review in The Guardian here. No time for more, since dinner beckons, but well worth a trip.
