Every year the best photographs from journalists around the world are acknowledged through the World Press Photo Awards. The impact of these photos is intense: covering some of the most tragic events of the past 12 months. But, like they say, a picture can say more than a lot of words. I always frod it sobering and moving to look through the winners, bringing back to mind some of the things that have happened in our world in the last year, and sometimes shaming me by making me realise I'd missed them happening altogether.
